What’s in a name?

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1 (NIV)


In business as much as in life, your reputation precedes you. Whether good or bad it seems that people find out what kind of person or company you are. We we’re pleasantly surprised by a customer account of our services that portrayed a positive picture and resulted in more business for Pfortner.


The challenge however is: how do we keep this up?


Ethics, commitment and exceeding expectations are the norm for what’s written on the values board of most companies, but how often do you really call someone to say – wow, that was amazing!


We’ve studied this case and found that it was not about exceeding expectation but merely doing as you said you would. It seems though that in the service industry our customer experienced this as above and beyond.


Surely you too have the opportunity today to: do as you said. And hopefully you too will be recognised for this. But with or without some form of acknowledgment, shouldn’t our default be: have the courage of conviction and let your yes be yes …
