Google was hacked
American Technology and multinational company Google confirmed that they have been hacked, this incident happened in June of 2025.
According to an article by Forbes cited on: https://www.forbes.com/sites/daveywinder/2025/08/09/google-confirms-it-has-been-hacked—user-data-stolen/ “The Google Threat Intelligence Group has officially confirmed that user data has been stolen following a successful hack attack impacting one of its databases.” One of the things that users and companies should be concerned about is what impact does this have on the compromise of personal data, financial information (payment methods etc), email hijacking, profiling and behavioural data.
To keep your accounts safe you can put the following measures in place:
- Change your passwordimmediately
- Enable 2FA(two-factor authentication)
- Check account activityfor unknown devices
- Revoke third-party app access
- Use a password manager to update weak/reused passwords
- Monitor bank accounts and credit reports
With most companies and users making use of the digital landscape to communicate, collaborate, conduct business, and consume or create information, the risk becomes much higher. A successful hack can expose internal documents, customer data, trade secrets, or financial records, and it can paralyze operations through ransomware or data tampering. Google has confirmed that they do have the situation handled. Google has also not gone to explain the impact of this attack they have confirmed though that “basic and largely publicly available business information, such as business names and contact details” are what the attackers were able to access.
What we have seen from this attack is that its important especially now for both companies and individuals to use strong, unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, audit third-party app access, encrypt sensitive files, and train employees on cybersecurity basics.
