Which Apps track you (the most)

by | Apr 26, 2024

The erosion of user privacy continues…

In our digital age, privacy comes at a cost, and it’s plummeting.

One would expect a mobile app to track some usage data to enhance the product but the recent banning of TikTok situation has shed new light on data collection.

Surfshark’s recent study reveals alarming insights into how mobile apps handle user data. From location tracking to sharing your details with third parties, the majority of apps scrutinize more than they should.

This may include your:

Phone Number, Email Address, Purchase History, Photos or Videos, Search History, Precise Location, Contacts, Emails or Text Messages, Browsing History & Health Data (phew…)

How to stop apps from tracking you

On iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security* > Tracking.

On Android devices: Go to Settings > Privacy >  Permission manager

Tap to turn off or turn on permission to track for a specific app.
